In the heart of Dorset, a client embarked on a new venture by occupying a farmhouse and its accompanying warehouse buildings. Given the site’s remote location, the client sought comprehensive solutions to ensure seamless communication, robust security, and reliable connectivity across the entire premises. Their specific requirements included:

• CCTV Surveillance: A robust security system to monitor and protect the expansive site.
• Network Connectivity: Reliable internet access throughout the various buildings.
• Voice Over IP (VoIP): A flexible phone system that allows landline functionality across all areas of the site – we installed our own Business Telephone System.
• Business Broadband: Our Business Broadband was installed at FTTC Speeds, and this was adequate for the client needs.

Voice & Wireless Solutions

To address these needs, we implemented a comprehensive UniFi Wireless solution. This involved strategically placing multiple wireless access points across the buildings, ensuring consistent WiFi coverage throughout the site. This setup facilitated the segregation of users into different wireless networks, enhancing security by restricting access to sensitive devices, such as network printers, to authorized personnel only. For the VoIP requirements, we introduced Our Business Telephone Systems, enabling the client to manage multiple inbound numbers for different customers. This system also supported call transfers between the farmhouse and office spaces, ensuring seamless communication across the site. We equipped the office staff with Yealink T42 handsets for fixed desk phones and provided Yealink W52 DECT phones for warehouse staff. The DECT phones allowed warehouse personnel to move freely throughout the premises, facilitating tasks like stock management without compromising communication.

CCTV Surveillance

Considering the site’s size, we installed a 32-channel HIKVISION IP Controller, integrating approximately 28 cameras at strategic locations. This setup not only provided comprehensive surveillance coverage but also incorporated advanced technologies such as Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) cameras and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR). The ANPR feature automatically logs vehicle number plates entering and exiting the premises, capturing precise timestamps. This capability is particularly beneficial for security purposes and can be instrumental when coordinating with law enforcement agencies, as it provides verifiable records of vehicle movements.

Structured Cabling

To support the extensive network infrastructure, we ensured the installation of multimode fiber optic connectivity between the main farmhouse and the warehouses during the construction phase. This high-speed connection serves as the backbone for both the network and CCTV systems. We meticulously routed the necessary cabling throughout the buildings, both internally and externally, while preserving the integrity of the internal finishes. This approach guarantees a robust and efficient network infrastructure capable of supporting the client’s operational needs.By implementing these integrated solutions, we provided the client with a secure, efficient, and flexible communication and surveillance system tailored to the unique demands of their remote Dorset farm site.
